Need I-Link drivers for DCR-TRV140e

I have borrowed a DCR-TRV140e and I need some I-Link drivers for it, I have AVI's on my computer from my two Digital 8's and I want to put them on a new Digital 8 tape with the DCR-TRV140e and it does not work, the instilation disc only has USB drivers
Pinnacle won't output the AVI's to the Digital 8 camera, my computer says "Windows can not find any drivers for this device" but the computers system tray shows up an icon that says "Found new hardware, sony DCR-TRV 140e" and when I click that, it goes to install the drivers but does not find any, the disc that come with it only has USB drivers, so I need drivers of some sort to get this camera to work on my computer.....

But the strange thing is;........

My DCR-TRV230e and my DCR-TRV340e does not require any the just work...

Chester...

I have no idea what the problem is, other than maybe the 140e is bad? As far as I know, windows has all the firewire drivers necessary. I have never heard of any firewire drivers coming on a disk for windows?

The obvious question is: since you have 2 camcorders that will work, why mess around trying to use the 140e? Use the camcorders that work and see if the 140e will play these tapes.

Dave is correct, there are no seperate 'firewire drivers'. All of the DV drivers required are contained within the Direct X of the operating system. If your Direct X is up to date, then your DV drivers are too.

Somehow you have a problem possibly within the camera, but to be certain you need to check your 1394 driver tree is 'up' and with no errors- within your system folders on your computer when 1394 devices are connected. Or why not just try the camera on another Computer perhaps, if possible?

Thanks Dave and macutmore, I had to use the 140e because the police still have my two cameras and all my tapes... and now I feel dumb... as I realised that there are no drivers for Firewire, it was my computer, how I fixed it.... well I had to reboot it but sparing the partitions that had my AVI's

Thanks any way,

Chester..
